Scaramucci says Trump lied ‘every 100 seconds’ in debate

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci blasted former President Trump Friday, accusing his former boss of lying "every 100 seconds" on the debate stage earlier this week.
But, he added, it was overshadowed by President Biden's poor performance.
Scaramucci joined CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Friday evening to react to the debate and talk about his recent book, "From Wall Street to the White House and Back," which includes a counter of Trump’s frequent false statements.
“Well, he told a lie every 100 seconds if you like factored in everything, but the … problem with Trump’s performance was a split screen,” Scaramucci said. “And so, whoever prepped President Biden didn’t explain to him that he had to be alert and look right into the barrel of that camera and he looked very distracted.”
“He looked a little off and so no matter what Trump was saying, I think most people were focused on the physical features of what was going on, on the other side of the split screen,” he added.
The pundit said in his book that he counted more than 30,450 lies, adding that the former president spewing false information on the stage would be nothing new.
“He’s going to lie. I mean, the … question now is, Joe Biden is staying in the race, I get that, so, now what is going to be the positioning of Joe Biden and how are you going to prove to the American public that Joe Biden’s up for the job,” he said.
Biden’s shaky debate performance sparked fear and panic among Democrats. Some even called for him to step aside and allow someone else to run against Trump. The White House and Biden’s campaigns have slammed the requests, signaling the incumbent is in it for the long haul.
The president made a campaign stop in North Carolina Friday, where he sought to tame the panic within his own party. His more energetic speech contrasted Thursday’s performance, but worries persist.
Scaramucci said Biden needs to be “relentless” and “get on the offense as quickly as possible.”
“He did a good job today, but he’s got to build on that over the next coming weeks to let the American people know that he can do this job,” he told Collins.
