READ: Republicans' revamped 'plan B' spending bill
After pressure from President-elect Trump and his allies resulted in the demise of the bipartisan spending bill before it could go to the House floor for a vote, House Republicans have reached an agreement on a "plan B" to avert a government shutdown.
This new 116-page bill comes just hours ahead of Friday’s funding deadline. The plan is to vote on Thursday, lawmakers announced. The new package will extend government funding for three months and suspend the debt limit until January 2027.
The previous iteration of the package was a 1,500-page bill that included a number of add-ons, including more than $100 billion in disaster and emergency funding, a health care-related package, and an extension of the Farm Bill.
