Musk to visit CIA to discuss government efficiency

Tech billionaire Elon Musk is set to visit the CIA to discuss government efficiency, according to the agency.

A CIA spokesperson said in a statement that Musk was invited by CIA Director John Ratcliffe "to meet with him at the Agency to discuss government efficiency."

In the first few months of President Trump’s second term, Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have attempted to slash their way through the federal government, offering buyouts to and laying off workers en masse.

Musk’s and DOGE’s moves, however, seem to have not garnered the warmest reception from voters, according to a recent poll. When asked about “the way Elon Musk and DOGE are dealing with workers employed by the federal government,” 60 percent of respondents in the Quinnipiac University poll of registered voters said they were not supportive of it.

Earlier this week, the tech billionaire went on Fox News to claim he is being cautious and caring when it comes to his federal government overhaul.

“I do agree that we actually want to be careful in the cuts,” Musk said on Thursday. “So, we want to measure twice, if not thrice, and to cut once. And actually, that is our approach. They may characterize it as shooting from the hip, but it is anything but that, which is not to say that …we don’t make mistakes.”

In mid-March, the National Security Agency (NSA) received a visit from Musk after he had earlier called for its “overhaul.”
