Most voters approve of Trump's handling of presidential transition: Poll
A majority of voters say they approve of President-elect Trump's handling of the presidential transition so far as the country continues to hold its breath for a peaceful transfer of power in January.
A new CBS News poll released Sunday found that 59 percent of voters say they approve of Trump's handling of his presidential transition so far, with 41 percent saying they do not approve.
The poll also explored voters' sentiments toward Trump's re-election, with many Americans saying they are excited or optimistic about his upcoming presidency.
Over half of Republicans (54 percent) say they are excited about what Trump will do as president, while only 4 percent of Democrats say the same. Also, 41 percent of Republicans say they are optimistic about Trump's presidency, with 11 percent of Democrats saying the same.
Overall, 31 percent of Americans say they are happy Trump was elected, with 24 percent saying they are satisfied with the results. On the other side, 23 percent say they are dissatisfied with the results and 21 percent say they are angry with the outcome.
Since his election, Trump has gained some favor with Americans. Another poll released last week showed 54 percent of respondents said they approve of Trump's performance. The approval rating is boosted by the 91 percent of Republicans who said such, but it also includes 49 percent of independents and 22 percent of Democrats.Â
In recent weeks, Trump has refused to sign memoranda of understanding with the Biden White House, federal departments and agencies to allow the transition power to proceed smoothly and give Trump and his team access to classified information.
Under the law, the Trump transition’s ethics plan was supposed to be published on the GSA website by Oct. 1.
