More in US concerned about Trump aligning with radicals than Harris: Gallup
Americans are more concerned about former President Trump’s ties to radicals than Vice President Harris's, a Friday poll released by Gallup shows.
Forty-one percent of participants said they were concerned about Trump being too closely aligned with radical groups while 14 percent were somewhat concerned. This was a 1 point increase from polling on the former president in his unsuccessful 2020 election bid.
Meanwhile, 34 percent were worried about Harris’s alignment with radicals and 15 percent were somewhat concerned. Her numbers resemble people’s view of Joe Biden in 2020, when 31 percent of people were very concerned about his ties to radicals and 16 percent were somewhat concerned.
Only 6 percent of Republicans were "very concerned" by Trump’s ties to radicals, versus 85 percent of Democrats and 38 percent of independents.
Meanwhile, 69 percent of Republicans were concerned about Harris being aligned too closely with people holding radical views, along with 30 percent of independents and 2 percent of Democrats.
Age also impacted people’s views of the candidates: 36 percent of Americans over the age of 65 were concerned about the vice president’s ties to radicals versus 27 percent of younger Americans.
Likewise, 55 percent of the senior demographic viewed Trump’s relationships with radicals as concerning, compared with 39 percent of younger adults.
The survey was conducted Oct. 1-12 with 1,023 adults over the age of 18 living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. Gallup surveyed respondents through phone interviews.
The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
