Mike Johnson impersonates Trump: 'Make it too big to rig'
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) did an impression of former President Trump during an interview with Fox News’s "Fox & Friends" Tuesday morning.
The program's anchors asked the Speaker to do his impression at the end of the interview, which he did from Emmaus, Pa., surrounded by a supportive crowd.
“Mike, you gotta make it too big to rig. We gotta make it too big to rig, that’s the thing,” Johnson said in his impersonation. “All of us. Look, every single vote counts. We’ll make it count, we gotta do this.”
This isn’t the first time Johnson has shown off his Trump impression. He did a similar impression at a Republican National Convention event in July when referencing a previous conversation between the two.
The audience erupted in applause, and the anchors back in the studio joked that he was just missing “a ‘beautiful’ in there” during his impression.
Early Tuesday afternoon, Johnson said “everybody needs to calm down” when asked about election certification. EWTN News reporter Mark Irons asked Johnson if he would certify the results of the election regardless of the outcome, and he said, “Of course.”
“We have a free and fair election, we’re going to follow the Constitution. I mean, I’ve taken an oath to uphold the Constitution and always have my entire life,” Johnson said.
During that same conversation, he also said the election would be “too big to rig,” but in his normal voice.
