Michelle Obama to headline get-out-the-vote rally in Georgia
Michelle Obama is headlining a get-out-the-vote rally in Georgia just days ahead of the presidential election.
The former first lady and founder of When We All Vote, a voter engagement and mobilization initiative, will headline the nonpartisan organization's rally on October 29 in Atlanta.
The push to get voters to the polls in Georgia, a swing state, comes only a week before Election Day on Nov. 5.
The event, which is poised to also feature some of When We All Vote's celebrity co-chairs and performances, will "be livestreamed to reach even more voters ahead of Election Day and the final days of early voting," organizers announced Wednesday.
"The rally will energize and mobilize first-time voters while celebrating the organizations and partners who work year-round to ensure that Georgia voters are registered and ready to vote," When We All Vote said in a statement.
While Michelle Obama spoke at the Democratic National Convention in August — praising Kamala Harris for "real ideas and solutions that will actually make people's lives better," — she hasn't joined former President Obama on the campaign trail in support of the vice president's White House bid.
Last week, When We All Vote, which Obama launched in 2018, announced it would host more than 500 free early voting events across the country in the weeks leading up to the election.
