Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, returns to Instagram
Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, announced her return to Instagram on New Year’s Day with a celebratory post on the beach.
The former actress Meghan Markle jogged across the sand in an all white outfit with her hair flowing in the wind before writing 2025 in the sand. The video uploaded under the username @meghan could signal an increased return to public life after years of Meghan and Prince Harry leaning into prioritizing their privacy.
The British royal faced backlash and racism after marrying Harry, the Duke of Sussex, in 2018 before the couple moved to California in 2020.
"It was a big adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life," Meghan told The Cut in a 2022 interview.
A year before the wedding, Meghan deleted her lifestyle blog titled The Tig and its corresponding social media accounts.
Since then, she and Harry have shared very little about their private life except for occasional updates on the @sussexroyal joint account managed by Buckingham Palace officials.
Meghan's new account has acquired more than 800,000 followers and is growing rapidly as people look forward to reconnecting with the royal.
