Live coverage: Bondi, Democrats clash during confirmation hearing
Pam Bondi, President-elect Trump's pick to be the nation's next attorney general, on Wednesday clashed with Democrats during intense questioning at her confirmation hearing.
Democrats pushed for Bondi to show independence from Trump, and one of the most memorable moments came early when she refused to say that Trump lost the 2020 election — a narrative more than one Democrat returned to.
She also clashed with Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) over special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into Trump.
Half a dozen nominees of President-elect Trump's Cabinet nominees are in front of Senate committees for confirmation hearings Wednesday.
The list includes Bondi; Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), his pick for secretary of State; Russell Vought, whom Trump tapped to head the Office of Management and Budget; and John Ratcliffe, the nominee to lead the CIA.
Also Wednesday, the Senate will continue considering the Laken Riley Act and President Biden is slated to deliver a farewell speech to the nation at 8 p.m. EST.
