Lara Trump: It's 'pretty obvious' Trump accepts election results
Republican National Committee (RNC) Co-chair Lara Trump said that it is “pretty obvious” that her father-in-law, former President Trump, accepts presidential election results.
Trump made the comment when she was asked if recent remarks by former and current leaders of the Democratic Party, like former President Obama and President Biden that Trump, will not accept the results of the 2024 general election, are all “coordinated.”
“I think, isn’t it all coordinated?” she told host Eric Bolling during her Thursday appearance on Newsmax’s show “The Balance,” highlighted by Mediaite.
“Isn’t all of this stuff coming from one place? It’s pretty obvious that Donald Trump does accept election results even despite the fact that it was a very questionable election in 2020 because Joe Biden is, unfortunately, sitting in the Oval Office today,” she said.
The former president has repeatedly spread false claims that the 2020 election was “rigged” and that there was widespread fraud in the contest.
Trump, who was elected the co-chair of the RNC in early March, said that “millions” of Americans do not trust the electoral process and it is negatively impacting the nation.
“What Donald Trump has said – and I think he’s exactly right – is that we should have free, fair, and transparent elections,” she said on Thursday. “And unfortunately, Eric, there are millions and millions of Americans out there who don’t feel like they can trust our electoral process. We can’t function as a country like that.”
A Washington Post/University of Maryland (Post-UMD) survey from early January found that one-third of U.S. adults believe that Biden’s 2020 general election was illegitimate.
“So he said, yes, if I feel like this is a fair election, but I feel like you guys didn't interfere in any way like they are obviously trying to do with all these bogus cases against him, then no problem. I'm happy to accept the results of the election,” she said.
Trump officials have stated that the party will be more aggressive in overseeing vote counts for the November election.
“The truth is, if there's no election interference, if everything is fair, and there's nothing nefarious happening in an election, it is pretty clear based on all the polls out there and anybody you talk to Donald Trump will be the 47th president,” Lara Trump said on Thursday.
