Karine Jean-Pierre to Peter Doocy: 'How will I fill that void without you?'
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre shared a laugh with Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy about the banter between them as her time at the podium winds to a close.
“Thank you, Karine. If I don’t see you again ... in the briefing [room], thank you,” Doocy told her during Monday's briefing. “You could have stopped taking the hard questions years ago, and you didn’t, so we appreciate that.”
“Over two years, my friend. This is, let’s say, one last dance, right," Jean-Pierre chuckled in response. "I don’t know how I’m going to fill my dance card now. How will I fill that void without you?”
"You tell me," Doocy quipped back.
“Start some rumors in here, I guess,” she responded, pointing out Doocy was "getting red," before taking a question from the Fox reporter about who the leader of the Democratic Party is moving forward.
Jean-Pierre and Doocy shared a number of at times combative exchanges in the White House briefing room on issues ranging from immigration, to President Biden's son Hunter's business dealings and Biden's mental acuity.
