Jeff Glor to leave CBS amid layoffs at Paramount
Anchor Jeff Glor is leaving CBS News amid widespread layoffs implemented by the outlet's parent company, according to multiple reports.
Glor, who currently presides over a Saturday morning new program on CBS, has been with the network since 2007 and once served as anchor of "CBS Evening News."
Glor is leaving CBS' news division as part of the latest round of cuts, the news outlet Puck reported, noting hundreds more jobs around the company were being slashed this week.
In a note to employees obtained by The Hill on Tuesday, Paramount co-CEO's Chris McCarthy, Brian Robbins and George Cheeks said the Hollywood conglomerate would begin "phase two of our workforce reductions in the US."
Paramount, which is currently undergoing a mega-merger with entertainment giant Skydance, promised investors it would cut $500 million from its budget by the end of the year.
"Like the entire Media industry, we are working to accelerate streaming profitability while at the same time adjusting to the evolving landscape in our traditional businesses," the company's leadership wrote. "Days like today are never easy. It is difficult to say goodbye to valued colleagues, and to those departing, we are incredibly grateful for your countless contributions."
