Jane Fonda sounds climate alarm on Trump: 'We can't lose another four years'
Actor and activist Jane Fonda sounded an alarm on climate change when it comes to former President Trump.
"We can't lose another four years," Fonda said, according to CBS News.
Fonda’s comments come from an interview set to air next weekend, per CBS News. She has a history of climate activism, previously launching the “Fire Drill Fridays” protest around five years ago with a goal of raising awareness and pushing for action on climate change. She was arrested multiple times amid the demonstrations.
“We can't allow this to happen in the United States," Fonda said of Trump capturing the White House in November, according to CBS News, “not when the future of the planet is at stake."
Last month, Trump remarked that climate change is not “the biggest threat” and that it would result in “more oceanfront property.”
“The biggest threat is not global warming, where the ocean is going to rise one-eighth of an inch over the next 400 years … and you’ll have more oceanfront property,” Trump said.
Fonda also has a history of criticizing Trump, labeling him as “in bed with the fossil fuel industry” in a 2019 interview on CNN.
“I don’t hate him. I feel sad for him,” Fonda said about Trump at the time. “And what he’s doing to the world … is just criminal. It’s just criminal. It’s terrible. But there’s more of us, and we can make a difference.”
Fonda also commented on pop star Taylor Swift’s recent endorsement of Vice President Harris in the CBS News interview, stating that she “thought it was really smart of her to choose to do it after the debate.”
"I think it's going to have a big impact,” Fonda added.
In an emailed statement to The Hill, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said that no one "cares what" Fonda "has to say and she hasn’t been relevant since 1970.”
