How to help victims of LA wildfires
(NewsNation) — Tens of thousands of people have been forced to evacuate from wildfires that have swept through the Los Angeles area, burning homes to the ground.
Organizations are already mobilizing to assist people who have had to evacuate. Here's how you can help:
California Fire Foundation
The organization helps support victims of wildfires in California, It also provides support for firefighters battling the wildfires and for the families of fallen fighterfighters.
People can donate to the foundation online.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army provides grants to those displaced by fires and financial assistance for immediate and long-term needs of fire victims.
It also operates shelters and provides emergency housing for those fleeing fires. Donate to the Salvation Army online.
Red Cross
The Red Cross operates emergency shelters, provides meals and medical care and helps with recovery plans following wildfires and other disasters. Find out how to donate online.
Wildfire Recovery Fund
California's Wildfire Recovery Fund is used to help with the intermediate and long-term impacts of wildfires, helping communities recover after attention has shifted away from the disasters.
