Homan: If Adams doesn't 'come through, I'll be back in New York City'

Tom Homan, the border czar tasked with overseeing President Trump's mass deportation plan, issued a stark warning to New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) on Friday if he doesn't "come through" on enforcing immigration policies.
Homan and Adams made a joint appearance on Fox News's "Fox & Friends," after Adams agreed to allow federal immigration officials to operate at Rikers Island — a decision signaling a change in the Big Apple's sanctuary city policies. The duo also vowed to work together to solve New York's "migrant problem."
"If he doesn't come through, I'll be back in New York City, and we will be sitting on the couch," Homan told the Fox News panel, referring to the embattled mayor. "I'll be in his office saying, 'Where the hell is the agreement we came to? We're going to deliver for the safety of the people of this city.'"
In response to a question, Adams stated New York City is and always will be a city of immigrants. He argued that anyone in the city who pays taxes should have access to services but added those who commit crimes should not be given any relief.
Homan said he was strictly against sanctuary cities.
Adams responded by saying they both agree on the "fundamental" point that "no matter who you are, if you are hurting innocent people in this city and this country, you don't have the right to be in our country."
The border czar went on to commend Adams for granting access to Rikers, calling it "a game changer" in his effort to crackdown on illegal immigration. Homan also noted he and Adams were "working on some other things that we don't really want to talk about, because the city council will be putting roadblocks upon us."
When asked whether the administration would go after politicians who "stand in the way" of such orders, Adams insisted he was collaborating with Trump's policies and not standing in the way.
"In the spring of 2022, I was saying we need to get dangerous people off our streets," he said, adding he helped the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on many occasions.
Before the joint interview, Homan and Adams met in Manhattan to discuss increased cooperation on deporting people accused of crimes.
New York City has historically had a strained relationship with ICE due to its laws and policies that restrict police collaboration with federal immigration authorities. Still, Adams has supported loosening these policies and collaborating with the agency, while acknowledging he does not have the authority to make such changes on his own.
The mayor has also seemingly cozied up to the president after the Justice Department ordered prosecutors in the state to drop federal corruption charges against him. Adams has brushed off allegations that his immigration stance is related to the move.
