Harris to appeal to voters in DC, Trump stumps in Pennsylvania on Tuesday

With a week until Election Day, Vice President Harris is set to make a pitch to voters in the nation’s capital on Tuesday while former President Trump is making a stop in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania.

Harris event:

Harris is set to give an address at the Ellipse on Tuesday, delivering a closing argument to voters in the remarks, per a campaign official.

The site of the rally will open at 3:00 p.m. to the public, with the event expected to end by 9 p.m.

Harris’s D.C. speech is listed as an event that people can sign up for on the official Democratic National Committee website.

The location of Harris's event is notable as it was the site of the Jan. 6, 2021, pro-Trump rally before the insurrection at the Capitol. The vice president plans to use the location to her advantage using the Ellipse as a symbol of what a Trump presidency would look like versus if she were in office.

Also on Tuesday, Trump is stumping in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania. He has an Allentown, Pa., rally Tuesday night, according to his campaign website.

Harris and Trump are separated by 0.7 percent points in the Keystone State, according to an average of polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, with the vice president garnering 48.6 percent support to the former president’s 47.9 percent.

Trump's rally comes amid backlash from his New York rally at Madison Square Garden over the weekend that stirred up controversy over racist and sexist remarks made by speakers at the event, most notably comments from a comedian saying he believes Puerto Rico is “literally a floating island of garbage.”

A senior adviser for Trump’s campaign, Danielle Alvarez, later said in a statement that the remarks by the comedian about Puerto Rico don’t “reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”
