Harris holds 2-point edge in tight North Carolina race: Poll
Vice President Harris holds a 2-point lead over former President Trump among likely voters in North Carolina, according to a poll released Wednesday.
The Quinnipiac University poll found the vice president garnering the support of 49 percent of likely voters to the former president’s 47 percent. One percent backed the Libertarian Party’s Chase Oliver, 1 percent said they were undecided and another 1 percent refused to answer.
North Carolina is one of a handful of crucial battleground states featuring a close race between Harris and Trump. According to an average of North Carolina polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Trump is leading Harris there by 1.4 points.
Former President Obama in 2008 was the last Democratic nominee to win the Tar Heel State.
The Quinnipiac poll also found likely voters favoring Attorney General Josh Stein (D) over Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) by 12 points in the North Carolina gubernatorial race, with Stein garnering 52 percent support and Robinson earning 40 percent.
Robinson is facing a major controversy in the wake of a bombshell CNN report that revealed a wide range of inflammatory comments he reportedly made on a pornography website’s message board more than 10 years ago. The North Carolina Republican has denied the allegations and is suing CNN over the report.
The Quinnipiac poll was conducted Oct. 10-14 among 1,031 likely voters and has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
