Haley: Election should be wake-up call for 'woke' companies, government, Democrats and Republicans
Former Republican White House candidate Nikki Haley argued the results of this week's election — in which her former primary rival, President-elect Trump, defeated Vice President Harris — should be a wake-up call for “woke” companies, government official and both Democrats and Republicans.
“I think at the end of the day, this should be a wake-up sign for companies that had gone woke. This should be a wake-up sign for government where they got so arrogant they started telling Americans what they should and shouldn’t do. This should be a wake-up call for the Democrat Party that … you don’t need to be leaning left, you need to be coming closer to the center,” Haley said on her Sirius XM show.
The former South Carolina governor had been sharply critical of Trump on the campaign trail. After she dropped out, it was questioned if she would support him, though she eventually endorsed Trump and has supported his candidacy.
Despite getting the election result she wanted, Haley argued this should also be a wake-up call for Republicans.
“This should be a wake-up call for the Republican Party too — don’t take this for granted,” she said.
When Trump won the election in 2016 but did not have control of the House, Republicans “missed a lot of opportunities,” Haley argued.
“We need to make sure that Republicans really make this count,” she said, adding “Let’s hope we take the House, too.”
The Republican Party overturned the control of the Senate, while, as of Thursday afternoon, the House was too close to call.
“If it’s a clean sweep, there’s a lot of work,” Haley said.
