GOP pollster Frank Luntz: 'Whoever told' Harris to focus on Trump 'committed political malpractice'
Republican pollster Frank Luntz told ABC News’s Jonathan Karl on Sunday that the person who “told” Vice President Harris to focus on former President Trump during her presidential campaign “committed political malpractice.”
“We all know what Trump is,” Luntz said on “This Week." “We experienced him for four years. Whoever told her to focus on him committed political malpractice, because in the end, you cannot change someone's point of view on him, it was all about her.”
Vice President Harris lost the 2024 presidential election earlier this week to President-elect Trump. Trump captured seven important battleground states, six of which President Biden won in 2020, in this year’s election.
Luntz also said when it came to men in this year’s election, Trump “was their voice.”
“Men felt ignored, they felt forgotten and they felt like … they didn’t even matter,” Luntz said on Sunday. “And in the end, the Democratic Party has to keep both of them. It is not enough to capture the women's vote.”
“These middle-class, middle-income, moderate men, I call it 'M cubed,' they're the key to any election, and they felt betrayed by her,” he continued.
ABC News exit polling showed that Trump led Harris by a wide margin when it came to voters who said a candidate’s “ability to lead” and “bring change” were the most important qualities in their vote.
Trump also notably made gains this year among Latino men, with 55 percent of them going for the president-elect versus four years ago, when 59 percent went for President Biden, per a CNN exit poll.
