George Clooney reacts to Trump saying he should 'get out of politics': 'I will if he does'
George Clooney is responding to former President Trump's call that he should abandon politics and focus on his TV career, saying, "I will if he does."
"He's a big fan of mine," the "Ocean's Eleven" and former "ER" star jested during a Tuesday interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" when asked about comments Trump made this summer.
“That’s a trade-off I’d do,” Clooney added.
In a July post on Truth Social, Trump ripped the Academy Award winner, calling him a "fake movie actor."
"Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!" Trump said at the time.
Host Jimmy Kimmel also asked Clooney, one of Hollywood's top Democratic fundraisers, about his headline-making July op-ed in The New York Times that called on President Biden to exit the White House race. Biden withdrew his reelection bid less than two weeks later.
"It did actually change the world — it had an enormous impact on the presidential election," Kimmel told Clooney.
"I don't know that that's true," Clooney, 63, responded.
"The bottom line is that it's very hard to let go of power and President Biden did something really extraordinary," Clooney said. "Honestly I really do feel think that's what should be focused on," he added.
The move, Clooney acknowledged with a laugh, "Could've gone very badly."
"It could still go badly," he said.
