Eva Longoria: Trump win did not influence decision to leave US
Actress Eva Longoria said President-elect Trump’s victory did not influence her decision to move herself and her family out of the country.
"Will you please let them know I didn't move out of the United States because of Trump?" she said to ABC’s “The View” host Ana Navarro during a taping of the show’s “Behind the Table” podcast. Navarro then clarified that Longoria moved out of the U.S. before Trump’s win.
"I've been in Europe for almost three years," said Longoria, who lives in Spain. "By the way, the article says that. People just grabbed some clickbait stuff to be divisive, which makes me so sad. Everything you say is just meant to be divisive when we can't be that way right now."
The actor spoke about her move during an interview for a Marie Claire cover story published shortly after the the election.
“I didn’t leave because of the political environment, I left because my work took me there,” Longoria added while speaking with Navarro.
Longoria was a vocal supporter of Vice President Harris during her campaign, joining the Democratic nominee on the campaign trail and speaking at the Democratic National Convention.
She said in the Marie Claire interview that the country would be a “scary place” in the event of a Trump victory, and that she was lucky to be able to “escape” the “dystopian” United States.
"The shocking part is not that he won," she told the outlet of the election results. "It's that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office."
