Elon Musk criticized the British government, continuing his feud by calling the U.K. a “tyrannical police state” as the country grapples with violent unrest.
In a post on X, the social platform that Musk owns, he shared a post that said a petition going around England has more than 1 million signatures calling for a new general election.
“The people of Britain have had enough of a tyrannical police state,” Musk wrote.

Musk, who is an ally of President-elect Trump and has been tapped to co-lead his Department of Government Efficiency," has engaged in a back-and-forth with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The U.K. has been rocked by violence after three children were killed in a stabbing incident at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class in August.
Starmer convened an emergency response meeting Monday after violence broke out in several cities. His office blamed the “thug” activity on far-right activists and social media misinformation.
In August, Musk criticized Starmer over his statement that ensured safety of Muslim communities and mosques in the country.
With Musk, the richest person in the world, poised to lead alongside Trump after donating millions and joining him on the campaign trail, concerns have been raised about the implications both for the United States and countries across the world.
His post follows an earlier post in which he shared Starmer’s declining approval ratings in the U.K. and said “the voice of the people is a great antidote.”
"I'm not going to be drawn on individual comments," Starmer's official spokesperson said when asked about Musk's comments. "The prime minister is focused on the issues that matter most to the British people."
The spokesperson noted that protecting the streets is "obviously a key part" of the government's mission. The spokesperson said Starmer looks forward to working with Trump and Musk.
"The prime minister looks forward to working with President Trump and his whole team, including Elon Musk, to work on issues, to deepen and develop the special U.K.-U.S. relationship across trade, investment, security, defense — a wide range of areas the U.K. and U.S. already share a deep and special relationship on and the prime minister looks forward to going further," the spokesperson said.
