Democrats launch Taylor Swift-themed voting campaign tied to 'Eras Tour' end
With Taylor Swift set to perform three shows in Miami this week, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Friday launched an "I Will Vote" campaign themed on the pop superstar to target young voters in battleground states.
The DNC announced the social-media focused campaign as Swift, who endorsed Vice President Harris in September, prepares to perform Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., kicking off the final leg of her "The Eras Tour" ahead of the November election.
“The campaign includes an exclusive new Snapchat filter urging young voters to be ‘fearless’ on the issues that will decide this election,” the DNC announcement reads. In addition to the filter that will be available to users across battleground states, Miami will host billboards encouraging voters to enter their “Kamala Era” and direct them to IWillVote.com, which provides relevant information about voting and the election.
The interactive Snapchat filter will include a variety of issues users can tap through to fill in the blank in the phrase “Be fearless for _____,” including LGBTQ rights, economic opportunity, climate action, democracy and student loan debt relief.
Swift backed President Biden in the 2020 election, saying she would “proudly vote” for the former vice president and then-Sen. Harris. In her endorsement this year, the singer called Harris a "steady-handed, gifted leader" and urged her more than 280 million Instagram followers, many of them young fans, to research the candidates.
“This election will determine the future for young voters, from student loan debt relief and economic opportunity to whether they have fewer rights than their grandmothers did,” Rosemary Boeglin, DNC communications director, said in the news release. "Democrats are reaching out to young voters where they are, from concert venues to social media platforms, to make sure they have the resources they need to cast their ballot. We’re not taking any vote for granted, and we’ll continue to make sure young voters across the country know everything that’s at stake and the stark contrast between Vice President Harris’ New Way Forward and Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda.”
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s national polling average shows Harris leading former President Trump by 2.4 points.
It is unclear whether Swift’s team is directly involved in the recent themed launch. The DNC and Taylor Swift’s teams have not responded to The Hill’s requests for comment at this time.
