Conway PAC rolls out ad highlighting GOP criticism of Trump
The political action committee founded by George Conway, a conservative lawyer and critic of former President Trump, rolled out a six-figure ad campaign Wednesday featuring prominent Republicans criticizing the former president.
The 60-second ad from Conway’s Anti-Psychopath PAC includes former and current Trump allies’ past criticism of the ex-president.
Trump’s 2016 campaign rivals-turned-allies Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) are among the Republicans featured, along with Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C), former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, former Speaker Paul Ryan (Wis.) and former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.), who has endorsed Vice President Harris.
A number of former Trump administration officials are also featured, including Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton, former Attorney General Bill Barr and former chief of staff John Kelly.
The ad campaign will air on cable and digital platforms in markets where Trump and his allies are based, including his current hometown of Palm Beach, Fla., and Bedminster, N.J., along with South Carolina, Texas and other cities in Florida. Additionally, the campaign will run in digitally in the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
“By using the words of people inside Trump’s own party, we’re highlighting the fact that many of those who are closest to Trump recognize his instability,” Conway said in a statement.
The effort is the latest effort from the "Never Trump" universe to hit the former president ahead of November. On Tuesday, the group Republican Voters Against Trump rolled out an $11.5 million ad campaign in key swing states.
Last week, more than 200 former staffers for four past Republican presidential nominees backed Harris, noting in a letter that while they share policy disagreements with Harris, Trump is “simply untenable.”
In August, the Harris campaign launched “Republican Voters for Harris,” which included more than 25 GOP endorsements, including former secretaries Chuck Hagel and Ray LaHood, as well as former GOP governors and lawmakers. A few Republicans, including former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan (R), and former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham spoke at the Democratic National Convention last month.
