Chuck Todd leaving NBC
Former moderator of "Meet The Press" and longtime NBC News political analyst Chuck Todd is leaving the network, he announced Friday.
"Look, I've been here a long time," Todd said on an episode of his podcast announcing the news. "I am leaving a bit earlier than we all had planned ... but I'm excited about a few projects that have gone from pie in the sky to near reality. So I'm very grateful to get a jump start on what I want to do in what I think is a very important moment."
Todd was moderator of "Meet The Press" from 2014-23 before NBC replaced him with anchor Kristin Welker.
He is just the latest in a slew of high-profile news anchors and political pundits who have left major networks amid the transition into President Trump's second term, including NBC's Hoda Kotb, CNN's Chris Wallace and Fox News's Neil Cavuto.
Todd joined NBC in 2007 as political director and has been a staple of its elections and political coverage on both its linear broadcast channels and, more recently, its streaming platforms.
"The reason I am ready to move — I think the media has a lot of work to do to win back the trust [of Americans]," he said Friday. "And the national media isn't the place that's going to be able to do it."
The network did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Todd's departure.
