Bash and Jordan spar over 2020, 2024 elections
CNN’s Dana Bash and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) sparred over the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections, and what a second Trump administration plans to do.
Jordan joined CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday morning after President-elect Trump swept the election and Republicans flipped the Senate and are performing well in the House.
Bash asked Jordan why Trump and his allies believe this recent election was free and fair but maintains the 2020 election he lost was rigged and stolen.
“In the run-up to the election, even on election night itself, Donald Trump baselessly accused Democrats of cheating. Soon as the results started to come in and showed them going his way, he stopped,” Bash said. “I haven’t seen you or your colleagues claiming any election irregularities, no rampant voting fraud this time. It seems to me that Republicans claim voting fraud and election integrity when you lose and not when you win.”
Jordan disagreed, noting that the 2024 election was the “greatest political comeback.” The Ohio Republican began talking about the Trump administration versus the Biden administration before Bash jumped in to press him on the election integrity idea again.
Jordan then said Democrats have to ask themselves why Vice President Harris received so many less votes than President Biden.
Bash interjected, asking if he believes the 2024 election “was free and fair.”
“I do,” Jordan responded.
“Why was it different from 2020 when he lost? Is that the only difference?” Bash questioned.
Jordan argued that in 2020, with the COVID-19 pandemic, there were concerns about mail-in voting. He said there isn’t voting fraud this time because Democrats “had no vision” and “no vision to run on.”
“Turns out, when you … tell people ‘oh you’re fascist, racist, deplorable garbage, they don’t like that,” he said.
Bash used her remaining seconds of the show to say “for the record” that there is no evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election.
