At least 6 hurt in Boston after truck hits pedestrians

(NewsNation) — Six people were injured, including two critically, when a truck struck a building and a group of pedestrians in Boston on Tuesday, police officials said.

Boston police and fire officials said a truck reportedly struck several poles and was wedged between a pole and a building shortly before 1 p.m. ET. Police said it was not immediately known how many people were struck by the truck.

Boston Emergency Medical Services said in a social media post that four people were taken to local hospitals from the scene of the crash. Two of those injured were taken by advanced life support ambulances to area medical facilities.

Officials announced at a news conference that one person is in critical condition and that three others remain hospitalized. The crash is being investigated as a tragic accident.

Officials said that two additional people were treated at the scene. The Boston Police Department’s homicide and fatal accident teams responded to the crash scene, police said.
